Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was allowed out of prison again after about three weeks in prison. The Paris Court of Appeal ruled that the 70-year-old can await the appeal of his sentence in the Libya affair freely under judicial supervision.
However, it imposes strict requirements. Among other things, the judge banned him from meeting acting Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin and leaving the country. Sarkozy was sentenced to five years in prison for allegedly providing illegal financial aid to Libya during the 2007 presidential election campaign.
He is defending himself against this in an appeal process starting next year. The Paris Court of Appeal ruled that Sarkozy can await this trial freely and under judicial supervision.
