The green light from the Council of Ministers to the legislative decision it puts into effect Urgent measures to ensure the continuation of production activities of the former Ilva factoryprotect workers and recognize compensation for the area. This was conveyed by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. Among the new features, the decision authorizes Acciaierie d’Italia in extraordinary administration to use the remaining 108 million of the bridge loan,”critical resources to ensure system continuity”, until February 2026, the date on which the tender procedures to identify the winning bidder are expected to be completed.
The remainder of the loan of 92 million has been allocated for critical interventions on the blast furnace, ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, environmental investments related to the new Hague and the Hague redevelopment plan. On the workers’ side, the decree allocates an additional 20 million for the two-year period 2025-2026, allowing the State to take over the integration of up to 75% of Cigs treatment, which until now was directly supported by Adi.
The provision also intervenes in the compensation fund for property owners in Tamburi district, so that the remaining amount from 2025 can be used to integrate part of the compensation related to applications submitted in previous years. Finally, Adi was given compensation related to contributions to companies with high energy consumption (energy intensive), especially energy supply discounts and Ets quotas.
Urso held a meeting on November 28
The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso – accepting further requests made by the territorial secretariats of Fim, Fiom, Uilm and Usb Taranto and by the president of the Puglia Region – has gathered on Friday 28 November, at Palazzo Piacentini, integrated meetings with national and territorial trade union organizations of the former Ilvawith representatives of the Regions of Puglia, Liguria and Piedmont as well as local authorities in whose territories the group’s factories are located. Labor Minister Marina Calderone and representatives of other competent ministries will also attend.
The meeting will follow, without interruption, the meetings already held at Mimit in Genoa-Cornigliano and at the factories in the North.
In connection with the meeting of Business Minister Aldofo Urso in Mimit, Fim Fiom Uilm Secretary General, Ferdinando Uliano, Michele De Palma, Rocco Palombella reiterated in a joint note “that the resumption of the debate about the former Ilva should take place exclusively at Palazzo Chigi with the withdrawal of the plan proposed by the Government”.
The joint meeting scheduled for Friday 28 November at the Palazzo Piacentini, as highlighted by Mimit sources, referring to the union’s notes, was convened by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, accepting the special requests made by the territorial secretariats of Fim, Fiom, Uilm and Usb Taranto and by the president of the Puglia Region, Province and by the mayor of Taranto. The request was formulated in the morning by the Region of Liguria and the City of Genoa, with the secretariat of the territorial union of the former Ilva factories in Northern Italy.
