The fight for the World Cup crown in Formula 1 is getting closer. Lando Norris starts from pole in the third to last GP of the season. Max Verstappen is chasing second place. The race in Las Vegas starts at 5 a.m. on the live ticker.
Verstappen was 49 points behind Norris before the Formula 1 race in Vegas
Lando Norris can secure an early decision in Las Vegas in the race for his first drivers’ world title in Formula 1. The 26-year-old British McLaren driver will face the race from pole position on Sunday morning (5am CET/Sky and RTL).
Max Verstappen will stand next to Norris. Depending on the outcome of the race, the 28-year-old defending champion and four-time world champion could be dethroned and mathematically no longer have a chance of achieving a fifth consecutive victory. Verstappen was 49 points behind Norris in the Red Bull before the third to final Grand Prix of the season.
Oscar Piastri, long at the helm this season, finished second in the World Cup in the second McLaren. The 24-year-old Australian has 24 points less than Norris and will only start from fifth in Las Vegas. In the two Grand Prix that followed in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, a driver could still score a maximum of 58 points.
