The Kick platform, which was already the subject of an investigation following the broadcast of the death of French streamer Jean Pormanove last August, was the target of a complaint from the association specializing in the fight against cyberviolence and online hate, Respect Zone, which condemned the distribution of violent and pornographic content, franceinfo learned, Saturday 15 November.
This complaint, which was filed on October 2, 2024 and subject to consultation by Franceinfo, targets the Kick platform for “involvement in the dissemination of recorded images relating to intentional acts of violation of a person’s integrity”as well as for “distribution of pornographic images or representations that may be seen or experienced by minors”.
“Several live broadcasts showed scenes of graphic violence in public against two streamers, Jean Pormanove and Coudoux, the latter of whom is vulnerable due to his disability and placed under guardianship”written in this complaint. “This violence, specifically in the form of punches, throwing of objects, as well as physical and psychological humiliation, was carried out live, in front of many people, and sparked numerous reports, both from the platform itself and from the Pharos government unit”.
“In addition to the spread of violent content, it is possible to encounter content of a sexually explicit nature, sometimes accessible without effective control of the user’s age, thereby amplifying the exposure of society, and especially minors, to pornographic or similar content”continued his complaint.
Speaking to franceinfo, the lawyer for the Respect Zone association, Laure Boutron-Marmiom, believes this “Kick engages in the distribution of images created on its platforms, violent or pornographic streaming channels, which can be freely viewed by all viewers, including minors”.
Raphaël Graven, 46, known by the pseudonym Jean Pormanove, died near Nice during a live broadcast on 18 August 2025 after more than 12 days of live broadcasts in which he, along with another man, was attacked and humiliated by two people. These deaths aroused strong emotions and reignited debate about the importance of better organizing social networks. The investigation into his death is still ongoing. Initial findings suggest that the streamer did not give in to the beating.
