From a penalty provocateur, Michael Olise turned into a goal scorer. Decisive in Kylian Mbappé’s opener this Thursday against Ukraine in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Bayern Munich winger confirmed his fine performance by scoring the 2nd goal of the match at the Parc des Princes (76).
The Frenchman used his favorite position, between the Ukrainian lines, to lighten the load on his team. After another high recovery from N’Golo Kanté, Maghnes Akliouche received the ball on the right side of the penalty box. After returning to his compatriot in midfield, he passed to Michael Olise who was on the penalty spot. After perfect possession, the Bavarian turned to attack with his right foot and deceived Trubin.
Thanks to the 2nd goal tonight, the French team’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup is guaranteed. Moreover, Kylian Mbappé scored his 55th goal for Blue in the 82nd minute, his 400th goal in his career. Hugo Ekitike also scored France’s first goal to close out the festival (88th).
