Events in Turin often mark turning points, before and after. Especially regarding the history of the labor movement. This time it was like that too. The fact is simple: in the face of the initiative against Russophobia in which the professor was the main speaker Angelo d’Orsi, the mobilization of Calenda, Più Europa and Picerno (Pd) led to the elimination of the initiative itself, in collaboration with the mayors of Turin Lorusso (Pd) and Polo del ‘900. Here a video in which D’Orsi tells the whole story.
After the cancellation, the initiative was rescheduled for the same date – November 12 at 9 pm – at the Arci club The Almighty enter via Salerno in Turin with live streaming via the web. Dissatisfied with the cancellation of the debate at the Polo del ‘900, Calenda, after tattooing a neo-Nazi symbol on his arm, gathered a handful of Turin supporters to come and take part in the debate at the new venue. Faced with these facts I would like to point out three things:
– Unworthy noise which was installed against the debate about Russophobia at the Polo del ‘900 headquarters it was not organized by fascists but by “liberal” exponents generally of the center left and the main actors were the European deputy Picerno and the mayor of Turin Lorusso, both from the Democratic Party. It is quite impressive that in the city of Gobetti a group of influential figures who all describe themselves as liberals have the goal of preventing debate. There is one important thing degeneration If liberals, who have always been decidedly uninterested in social rights, are now among the hysterical ranks of those who want to break Russia’s back by using the poor Ukrainian people as cannon fodder, then they are also neglecting the defense of civil rights and freedom of speech. This is a quality leap that needs to be remembered because it shows us that the tendency to destroy democracy is not unique to democracies. right of fascist origin but this is also a characteristic feature of this new right of liberal origin. The fact that he is positioned on the left center does not change matters one bit, on the contrary.
– Anti-democratic impulses, the actions of this “regime” are carried out in the name of war against Russia. Not content with provoking war in Ukraine withNATO expansion to the east and with the Maidan coup in 2014, these NATO ultras not only wanted to continue a lost war by using the Ukrainian people as cannon fodder, but they also wanted to choose Russophobia as the state religion. This is a significant phenomenon because in Italy, as in the entire European Union, a transversal war party was born, founded on lies and hatred: new nationalism which, instead of being state-based, is based on an alleged civil war with Russia.
This is also something new: the fact that the Nazis considered Russia and the Slavs in general as enemies that must be fought in the name of Europe is nothing new, but a historical tragedy of biblical dimensions that occurred more than 80 years ago. That this goal is now adopted by all liberal elites in the European Union an undoubted novelty which speaks of a shift in warmongering, nationalist and anti-democratic attitudes in much of the European Union’s ruling class.
– That Calenda, after tattooing the symbol of neo-Nazi Ukrainian nationalism on his forearm and after colluding to prevent Professor d’Orsi’s conference with an act of institutional squadronism, is now summoning a handful of people who dare to turn on a practical act of squadronism to challenge the possibility of D’Orsi speaking at the Arci club, says a lot about how our nation has become “moderate liberals”. In Turin, which won a gold medal for resistance, the avant-garde actions carried out by those who declared themselves liberals represented a total betrayal of Gobetti, who after being murdered by the fascists was now murdered a second time by those who prided themselves on being the heirs of the anti-fascist martyrdom. In Calenda’s warmongering extremism, we find the same spirit that Mussolini possessed when, at the expense of industrialists, he attacked the socialists and founded the fascism that fought them. Anyway, I amitalian fascism, as its founder pointed out, it saw its origins precisely in the fact that part of the left had moved to the right.
What happened around the NATO war in Ukraine was precisely this: parts of the liberal left, outnumbering Trump on the right, simply adopted the intolerant, warmongering, troop-based attitudes that are the hallmark of fascism. Really unlucky.
