A new season of “The Masked Singer” has begun – but instead of cheers, there is criticism. New judging duo Verona Pooth and Chris Tall were not well received by many viewers.
The twelfth season of “The Masked Singer” premiered on ProSieben on November 8, 2025. The broadcaster wanted to breathe fresh air into a successful format with elaborate costumes, mysterious performances and spectacular reveals – especially with a brand new jury.
Instead of previous fan favorites Rea Garvey, Ruth Moschner and Palina Rojinski, Verona Pooth and Chris Tall now sit at the suggestion table. They were supported by celebrity guests who changed each episode – actor Edin Hasanović was there at the start.
“The Masked Singer” reboot: Fans can’t get enough of Pooth and Tall
After eleven seasons, ProSieben restarts with a clean slate with a new cast. The goal: more humor, spontaneity and energy. Verona Pooth and Chris Tall had to win over the audience with charm and humor.
But after the first live show it became clear: not all fans were enthusiastic. There was a lot of criticism on social media – many viewers found the new duo “reckless” and “annoying”.
Fans criticize “The Masked Singer” new judge: “should switch”
There were lots of comments regarding the composition of the new judges on the event’s Instagram account. One user wrote: “Please replace Verona, it’s so tiring listening to her. You can also read: “Verona is really annoying. She doesn’t fit in at all, has no plan.” Another fan expressed his frustration with the new judge: “I don’t understand why Ruth Moschner was replaced either.”
Some fans also argued that the judges didn’t get along at all: “Unfortunately I had to move between shows because I couldn’t stand the haphazard judges anymore.” Another user simply missed the old line-up: “I never thought I’d want Ruth Moschner back.”
Not much has changed to the show: six live broadcasts, lots of glamor and the big question – who is behind the mask?
Moderator Matthias Opdenhövel led the evening with his usual aplomb, while the audience voted for which star should be unmasked at the end.
