Ramallah, November 24 (Adnkronos) – Two Hamas members elected to the legislative council of the Palestinian National Authority were arrested this morning east of Bethlehem, in the West Bank. This was announced by the Islamic movement’s Prisoners’ Affairs Office, according to which Ahmed Atoun, 57, now released, had been taken several hours earlier, tied and blindfolded, from his home in Beit Sahour, east of Bethlehem, for interrogation at an Israeli military facility. Muhammad Abu Tir, 75, remains in custody after being taken from his home in Dar Salah, east of Bethlehem, according to Hamas. Both men were elected on the Hamas list in the Palestinian National Authority’s last legislative election in 2006, its most recent election to date.
