The death of Mario Vargas Llosa last April, at the age of 89, meant an irreparable loss for literature, not only Peruvian, but universal. As part of the Hay Festival, a tribute to the figure of the Nobel Prize winner from Arequipa is being held with Alonso Cueto (Peru), friend of the writer and author of Mario Vargas Llosa. words in the world; Verónica Ramírez (Peru), who collaborated for several years with Vargas Llosa; and Juan Gabriel Vásquez, a Colombian writer considered the “heir” of Vargas Llosa by several literary critics.
