He stabbed his wife to death in the Varese area, a 78-year-old man was arrested – News

A woman, Mariella Chiari, was found dead in her home on via Pezza di Mesenzana, in the Varese area, struck by several blows from a stabbing weapon. The victim, aged 81, was found at around 18.00 and when 118 personnel arrived on the scene, there was nothing more that could be done with the elderly woman: she had been stabbed several times. Concerns were raised by several family members who live downstairs in the couple’s house, while several neighbors saw the husband, Renato Bianchi, 78, screaming in front of the house.

The man was stopped by carabinieri from Luino’s company: it was he who attacked his wife, killing her in the living room. The 78-year-old man was escorted to the barracks as ordered by judicial authorities. The area is isolated and investigators are conducting investigations to understand its dynamics. The woman was murdered with a kitchen knife, which the killer left in her chest, on the first floor of the palatial villa where the elderly couple lived.

There are no traces of heated arguments in the couple’s past. No complaints, no reports, never even a call from the neighbors. What might have happened at this time remains unclear, especially since the arrested Bianchi did not say a word. He was taken to the barracks in Luino to await interrogation, the old man appeared to be in a confused state.

“We as a community are deeply shaken by this tragedy – said Mayor Alberto Rossi – We are close to the family members, we are all ready to help whatever they need.” The husband and wife are not from Mesenzana. “They had moved a few years ago to be near their daughter and grandchildren – explained the Mayor – A very quiet but respectable family, we really can’t imagine what could have happened”. In the same way through Pezza, many years ago, another tragedy occurred: Andrea Rossin, in March 2023, he stabbed to death his two children Giada and Alessio, aged 13 and 7, before committing suicide.
