He was “very happy” to find his master. A two-year-old dog survived a fall from a height of 30 meters on the Shetland Islands in Scotland. As local emergency services reported in a press release, Whisp, a collie, was found “on a rock ledge” on a cliff.
“Shetland Coastguard rescue teams were alerted at around 11.10am this morning to rescue a dog which had fallen from a cliff at Heylor, Shetland,” Orkney and Shetland Coastguard said in a text shared on Facebook.
“He was brought back safely”
When he was two years old, the dog was “under” the cliff, making access to the animal by sea impossible for rescuers. Whisp was eventually brought back to the cliff top “more than 3 hours later” by rescue workers, sent to the location by a rope system.
“Fortunately, this story ended well for Whisp. He was returned safely to his owner, miraculously unharmed,” the coast guard said. The cause of the fall has not been revealed. He was found unconscious with pain in his legs.

The small black and white dog was then able to find his master before being photographed with his rescuer that day. “Our Coast Guard lifeguards train hard to deal with incidents like this,” the Coast Guard said.
