The raid was effective. This week, the French gendarmerie announced the dismantling of a heroin trafficking network earlier this week. Its members use Snapchat to distribute and deliver products in the Ardennes department and the Nantes metropolitan area.
In total, six people were arrested and taken into police custody, then handed over on Sunday to the Charleville-Mézières prosecutor’s office as part of a deferred appearance procedure, with a request for placement in pre-trial detention, according to a press release from the gendarmerie.
26 kilograms of drugs were confiscated
Transports of products by road were intercepted at night from Wednesday to Thursday by the branch of the national gendarmerie intervention group in Reims. 26 kilograms of heroin were seized, with an estimated street value of 800,000 euros, explained the gendarmerie.
Three suspects were later arrested, then three more on Friday in a second wave of arrests, this time in the Ardennes.
A preliminary investigation into this criminal organization that imported heroin from the Netherlands was opened by the Charleville-Mézières prosecutor’s office in 2024. This made it possible to identify the two mules responsible for transporting the product, as well as three traffickers.
