In downtown Bad Nauheim, visitors can park for free in public parking lots every Advent weekend. City bus lines and some regional buses are also free on weekends. During the “Bad Nauheim shines” event, the city will be colorfully illuminated on November 29. Many stores are extending their opening hours to mark the occasion – and they are also offering special deals on some Saturdays.
Illuminated stilt walker in Hanau
During the “Black Weekend” on November 28 and 29, visitors can also benefit from a discount campaign in Hanau. Illuminated stilt walkers will be out and about in the pedestrian zone on Saturday. In addition to the traditional Christmas market at the Brothers Grimm Monument, there are also Advent markets in the Kesselstadt and Steinheim districts this weekend. And if you’re looking to lose those cake calories again, you can get inspired at the 2nd Hanau Gymnastics Championships which will take place this Saturday (29 November). Spectators are expressly welcome.
Local transport in Limburg is partly free
Limburg also wants to make it easier for visitors to travel in the run-up to Christmas: on Advent Fridays and Saturdays, local public transport within the city is free. At the start of the Christmas market on November 28 there will be live music and a Christmas rally for children. And if you keep your eyes peeled while window shopping, you can win vouchers for various shops in Limburg. At the end of December 22, the market Christmas trees will again be distributed to visitors.

“The big city rings” in Frankfurt
In Frankfurt, downtown churches will prepare for the pre-Christmas season on Saturday (November 29): At the “Big City Bells” from 4 to 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., 50 bells from 10 churches will ring in the Advent season. Otherwise, Hesse’s largest Christmas market in the main metropolis invites you to stroll and party. As of December 22, more than 230 stands had been set up downtown. This year, on the four Saturdays of Advent, baggage buses will again be available in town to store purchases. Storage fee 2 euros; Free if you show a current RMV ticket.
“Marburg at Night” Light Festival
In Marburg, the Christmas market around the historic town hall and Elisabeth Church also opens on November 28. To start with, the city also celebrates the “Marburg at Night” festival of lights with extended opening hours for many of the market stalls and shops in the city center, light trails and beautifully illuminated buildings.
“Wiesbaden on Ice” and discounts in the parking garage
The centerpiece of the pre-Christmas season in Wiesbaden is the shooting stars market on Schlossplatz with its 104 stalls. Ice skating fans, on the other hand, can be physically active on the bowling green in front of the Kurhaus with “Wiesbaden on Ice”. When it comes to public transport, Wiesbaden is also uncomplicated: “On Advent Saturday, we once again fund free use of buses and trains in the Wiesbaden city area,” he said. Additionally, some car parks run discount campaigns during Advent, which are also intended to help reduce congestion when looking for a parking space in the city center.
