He toured week after week HSV currently through the Hamburg amateur club. That Bundesliga team was at USC Paloma, at Niendorfer TSV. Now off to SC Vorwärts-Wacker.
Loic Favé (32), youth sports director and professional assistant coach, as well as project manager Kai Sautter (31), always bring along professionals and bosses. Is it Robert Glatzel (31), Nicolai Remberg (25) or Jean-Luc Dompé (30). Even professional coach Merlin Polzin (35) and sports director Stefan Kuntz (63) were there.

HSV is very approachable. Professionals train in demo sessions with kids from amateur clubs. Favé and Sautter explain the club’s new youth concept, “Hamburg is growing”. They provide insight into NLZ’s work. Discuss everyday issues with the on-site youth trainer and try to develop ideas together.
Favé: “Our ‘Hamburg is developing’ project is designed for the whole of Hamburg football. We want to work together with everyone involved in the development of the football city – through childcare centers, schools, clubs, coaches and the Hamburg Football Association.”
This was a revolution in Hamburg youth football.
The effort is extraordinary. HSV wants to visit 20 clubs in the coming weeks and months. Favé: “In the first step, we chose the club where the most players from our city have come to HSV in recent years.”

The club’s response was very positive. Favé: “We are still in the early stages of the project. However, we have seen that the children and coaches have been very happy with our visits with the professionals. Most importantly, we saw how well the exchanges with the coaches after the training sessions were received. We have obtained a lot of content from these discussions, which we are now gradually incorporating into the project. These are topics related to child care centers, schools or municipal sports facilities.”
And further: “We want to understand more about what the reality is like at the club – and we can understand it best when we are on site. On the one hand, we want to convey what projects we want to do. On the other hand, the focus is on topics that concern the club.”
The intention is clear. With its work in amateur clubs, HSV wants to ensure that youth work is improved across the board. More qualified trainers should ensure higher quality training at the gifted age. The Bundesliga club then wants to take advantage of the top position.
