American actor and rapper Donald Glover, known as Childish Gambino, he revealed on stage during a concert that he suffered a stroke last year. On Saturday night, November 22, while performing at Tyler, Los Angeles’ Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival, Glover opened up about why he had to cancel his tour as soon as it started in 2024.

“I had a really bad headache in Louisiana and I did the show anyway,” Glover said. “I couldn’t see very well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor said, ‘You’re having a stroke.'”

About a month into the “New World” tour in August 2024, Glover postponed the tour and then canceled the remaining dates, officially “due to health concerns”. During his performance on Saturday, Glover sat on stage and made a confession to his audience.

First a joke about wanting to emulate fellow actor Jamie Foxx, who also suffered a stroke in 2023. Then he got more serious, telling the audience that when he found out he had had a stroke, he felt like he was letting everyone down: “I always promised to perform in Ireland, but I haven’t made it.”

Then he added: “The doctors also found a hole in my heart, so I had to have two operations. They say that everyone has two lives and the second life begins when you realize that you have one life. You have a life, friends, and I have to be honest, the life I live with you is a true blessing. As my wife, who I adore, says, ‘If life is what it tastes like, as soon as I’m done, give me another spoonful.’”
