I was afraid of independent cinema, now I’m thinking about the second direction – Il Tempo

Rome, November 17 (askanews) – Claudia Gerini is President of the Jury of the 22nd edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival, which was won this year by the Spanish film “La Cena” by Manuel Gòmez Pereira. A chance to talk about his role as a moviegoer. “I really like historical films, I really like comedies, I don’t like films that are too violent. – said the actress – I am quite omnivorous, but I am very demanding, when I don’t like a film I leave the theater”.

The event directed by Ezio Greggio held annually in the Principality of Monaco is dedicated to comedy, of which Gerini has been one of the main interpreters since, 30 years ago, he filmed “Honeymoon” with Carlo Verdone. Today he shares Verdone’s fears about the future of young directors and performers of Italian cinema. “I am also worried about the cuts, I think now they will review the tax credit law a little, because independent cinema no longer has a voice, independent Italian cinema is like this, because it is clear that they need help with state funding. – explains Gerini – Carlo is right to say that we need support because of the small films that are the food of our cinema, because Italians love Italian cinema, they want it, they watch it”.

The actress, who is currently in theaters with “Outside the Truth”, is now preparing to direct her second film, of which she said: “It’s actually something that was born very young, because the story found me, but I can say that it is a very gentle story and also a tribute to cinema.”
