Rome, 26 November (askanews) – “I immediately launched an urgent investigation into the matter through the inspectorate, requesting complete copies of all documents that had not yet been received”, “it was clear that if an important disciplinary profile emerged, I would use the powers that have been granted by law”.

This was said by the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, responding to a parliamentary question from the League about the initiative in connection with the case of minors in a family living in a house in the forest in the province of Chieti.

“It is clear that the forced transfer of minors, the conditions that legitimize it, can never ignore the reasonable and difficult balance between the minor’s future interests and the current interest in maintaining the status quo. This is an extreme measure that must be taken after carefully evaluating the impact that such action could have on the minor’s psychophysical well-being and always referring to the primary interests enshrined in the Constitution on the rights of children and adolescents” said Nordio.

“Personally, I also express my bewilderment arising from the situation that, after years of media bombardment of consumer civilization, of the modernization of life, industrialization, excessive use of electrical or even nuclear production sources, when a family then decides to live peacefully according to Rousseau’s criteria in contact with nature, we then have to take such extreme measures. Of course, this is a situation that must be considered with great attention, balancing the interests of both,” concluded Nordio.
