The White House defended US President Donald Trump’s verbal attacks on two journalists. US television station ABC News is a “Democratic branding operation masquerading as a broadcaster,” the White House said on Wednesday.
Trump calls journalists “bad reporters”
On Tuesday, Trump called ABC journalist Mary Bruce a “terrible reporter” after she discussed the killing of anti-government Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to the White House.
A White House official also defended Trump’s remarks last Friday to journalist Catherine Lucey of Bloomberg news agency. Trump viciously attacked Lucey aboard the presidential plane Air Force One.
Trump to journalists: “Shut up, pigs”
When asked why he did not want to release the files surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the US President replied: “Shut up. Shut up, pig” and pointed his finger at Lucey. A White House representative now says: “If you can express it, you should be able to accept it.”
