Sammy Djedou, a fighter for the Islamic State group, was convicted Thursday in Belgium of “crimes of genocide” against the Yazidi minority. The man was tried in his absence and presumed dead in the war zone. Before Belgium, three other European countries – Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden – had tried jihadists and convicted them of the same crimes.
