Shock in Marseille, following the murder of the younger brother of an environmental activist who was committed to opposing drug trafficking, Thursday 13 November. A 20-year-old youth was shot dead in broad daylight in the 4th arrondissement, in an area near the department council headquarters. A young man with a clean record who wants to become a police officer. The hypothesis of a warning murder is by no means excluded, according to Marseille prosecutors. Commemoration of his brother Amine Kessaci, who made the fight against problem solving the driving force of his political commitment.

In the neighborhood where the young man’s family lived, very close to where he was killed, silence reigned. At the entrance to the building where the young man lived, several hundred meters from where he was shot dead in cold blood, police were guarding the door. The family is reserved and won’t talk. Several relatives gathered, but only a few dared to speak up. “This is terrible”slipped a mother.

Sonia, who is his neighbor, is still shocked by the murder of the young man. “He is a person I know very well. I see him every day, he said. He was truly far from the goal he was killed for. He wasn’t involved in anything. He was a young man full of life, very kind, helpful, and had a big heart. Unfortunately, this is what is currently happening in Marseille.”

“He is a victim, and we can say that he is a victim possibly related to his family’s struggle.”
