In three weeks, 3,000 liters of fuel were stolen from Restos du coeur de la Sarthe, ICI Maine (formerly France Bleu) learned from the association on Monday, November 10, confirming information from Maine Libre. Several complaints have been filed.
Since the All Saints’ Day holiday, Restos truck tanks have been routinely siphoned by hooded men operating at night in the parking lot of the association’s headquarters, in Coulaines, near Le Mans. They continued to act despite police patrols and surveillance cameras. “This is disgusting and confusing” reacted Philippe Coutant, president of the association, to ICI Maine.
3,000 liters of diesel were stolen, with losses estimated at 4,500 euros by Restos du coeur. “This is money intended for families in trouble that we have to spend on fuel. That hurts my heart“, complained Philippe Coutant.
Restos du coeur trucks are used to distribute food in departmental centers. Without fuel, trucks cannot supply that fuel. The association president said:worry” while the winter campaign is scheduled to start on November 17.
