In Tourcoing, a teenager fell on a scooter and died after refusing to comply

A 16-year-old teenager riding a scooter died Tuesday evening in Tourcoing (North) due to a fall that occurred shortly after refusing to obey the city police, we learned from the Lille public prosecutor’s office and union sources, confirming information from La Voix du Nord.

According to the first part of the investigation, “refusal to comply with the Tourcoing municipal police crew” would have been made by this scooter moments before the accident, said Lille prosecutor Samuel Finielz.

City police officers “said they were about 150 meters from the scooter at the time of the accident,” he said. It appears that “no third party was directly involved” that fall, the young driver “crashed into a pole as he was traveling in a prohibited direction and attempting to avoid a private vehicle coming from another direction,” Samuel Finielz added.

An investigation into manslaughter was opened and entrusted to Lille’s territorial crime division, to determine “the true circumstances of this accident.”
