Beauty centers, which are completely illegal, are increasingly being advertised. In social networks, the so-called miracle treatment based on injections is very popular. However, this injection is strictly prohibited, because it is intended for doctors.

Young Lyonnaise felt self-conscious about her lips, which she considered too thin. So, a few years ago, she made an appointment at an aesthetics center run by two women. He wished his mouth was fuller thanks to the injection. “At that time, they had quite a lot of customers, quite a lot of people visiting. It happened very quickly. I think I had to pay 190 euros in cash”he admitted.

When he leaves, disappointed, he decides to film himself. “It hurts a lot and I have bruises.”he regrets it. Although the pain faded over time, in the months after the injection, her upper lip remained deformed, she said. “I felt really bad, especially in the evening when I came home, it was a bit excruciating. I made an appointment with a doctor in Paris. He realized that the acid was injected, normally, he told me that it was acid inserted in the nose or in a slightly harder area of the face”he said.

The product will eventually be removed from his lips. If he hadn’t felt the side effects, his former client wouldn’t have gotten this opportunity. On the phone, some people talked about infections. “The day after my appointment with them, my lump got bigger. Not a small lump, a very big lump. I was very worried, I called them the next day. The manager called me and the results were very bad, he was aggressive. He told me, for him, that what was building up was the pus”said a woman.

For five years, in Lyon (Rhône), there was a lack of understanding towards the victims. Despite complaints being filed for illegal medical practices, investigations are still underway against the administrators. Their attorneys did not want to talk.

Meanwhile, this highly profitable business continues to grow on the network. A very worrying phenomenon, according to professionals. In his office, a doctor examines victims of illegal injections every week. “There is a certain impunity, so many non-doctors are entering this niche. When things don’t go well, when there is discomfort, allergies, it can be dramatic. There are people who can die with anesthesia products. Only doctors are able to handle these emergencies.”warns Alexandre Mertens, cosmetic surgeon and spokesperson for the Rhône-Alpes Society of Plastic Surgery.

When contacted, health authorities in the region admitted they were fighting these illegal injectors and reporting them to court. In France, they face up to two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.
