Inter beat Lazio and take the lead with Roma – Il Tempo

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Mission accomplished for Inter, who beat Lazio in the closing match of the eleventh matchday of Serie A and moved to the top of the standings with 24 points, level with Roma. The Nerazzurri’s third straight win in the league also erased any complaints over their poor Champions League defeat against Kairat Almaty. On the other hand, Lazio’s streak of consecutive results ended at six, but this shows good things from a spirit and mentality perspective, exactly the aspects Sarri stressed. Among the Nerazzurri, Acerbi returns to the starting line-up after three consecutive spells, while in attack his partner is Lautaro-Bonny; But among the guests, Romagnoli was present in the first minutes. Inter appeared on the pitch full of confidence and applied very high pressure which immediately put the visiting team’s back line in big trouble. In fact, it only took two minutes to see the first goal: Bastoni took the ball from Isaksen near the opponent’s area and laid it centrally for Martinez, who fired the ball into the top corner leaving Provedel unable to move. Inter continued to press (Sucic also almost scored with a volley with his left foot) but Lazio didn’t give up and instead tried to show off their attack. Zaccagni was certainly the Biancocelesti’s most positive player, but there were no real goal-scoring opportunities.
Then it was Inter who tried to double the lead, with Barella as the protagonist: first, he decided not to shoot and fed Lautaro, who fired high, then, in the 62nd minute, gave the opportunity to the Argentine himself, who then passed to Dimarco who put a precise pass to the far post for Bonny, who passed it into the empty net. Four minutes later a third goal was also scored via a fine left-footed diagonal shot from Zielinski, but Manganiello called it all off after assessing a handball from Dimarco early in the action would be sanctioned, verified by an on-field review. A situation that gave power back to Lazio, who almost scored in the 77th minute: Gila headed the ball but the ball, after hitting the crossbar, did not quite go in. In the final, Sommer was able to cover the target well with Pellegrini’s close-range shot (with a great assist from Zaccagni) and seal a 2–0 win. Inter celebrate but Lazio are also looking good: now the break and then the derby against Milan for the Nerazzurri and the home game against Lecce for the Biancocelesti.
