How is he really?
The health of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin (73) is generally not a topic for public discussion in Russia. Now the president himself has said something about his condition – for good reason.
Vladimir Putin was hospitalized for two days
Russia’s long-serving head of state said he was in good health. He recently underwent a check-up in hospital, he said while visiting an exhibition amid ongoing speculation about his condition, according to Russian media. “Thank God everything is fine”explained the 73-year-old man in Moscow.

Speculation about Vladimir Putin’s poor health
Previously, the Kremlin had repeatedly highlighted Putin’s good physical condition. For example, the Russian president has been photographed shirtless in the wilderness or diving for ancient amphoras in the sea. Putin, who started the war against Ukraine more than three and a half years ago, was also photographed holding the control stick of a fighter jet. At the time, the tape was intended to show the differences between him and his predecessor Boris Yeltsin, who was no longer in office and had recently become unpopular among Russians.
Contrary to the strongman narrative propagated by the Kremlin, speculation has recently been rife about Putin’s poor health or even a doppelganger in his long absences. Moscow has always denied these rumors. (nlu/dpa)
