Israel announced the opening of a second permanent crossing point into the Palestinian enclave

A breath of fresh air welcomes humanitarian aid aimed at the Gaza Strip. Israel announced on Wednesday, November 12, the permanent opening of aid crossing points to the Palestinian enclave. In accordance with the direction of political authorities, the Zikim crossing point was opened today for the entry of humanitarian aid trucks into the Gaza Strip. report X Coordinator of Government Activities in the Region (Cogat), the Israeli Defense Ministry agency that oversees civilian activities in the Palestinian Territories.

When asked by AFP, a Cogat spokesperson clarified that the Zikim crossing would now remain open “permanently”such as Kerem Shalom, in the south of the region, where most aid has been distributed since the start of the war in October 2023.

The Zikim crossing point was closed to the delivery of humanitarian aid about two months ago, on September 12, as part of the military operation to take control of Gaza City.
