Istanbul – About two weeks after the death of a family of four German tourists in Istanbul, the cause of death has been determined: According to the autopsy report, the parents and their two children died of highly toxic phosphine gas poisoning.

This was reported by the news portal “T24” and the TV station “Halk TV”.

Phosphine is a colorless and odorless gas in its pure state, but is highly toxic and flammable. It is used in pest control and is a potent neurotoxin and metabolic poison that is dangerous even in low concentrations.

A family of four from Hamburg travels to Istanbul for a holiday. On November 12, parents Servet (38) and Çiğdem B. (27) and their two children Masal (3) and Kadir (6) were there due to nausea and vomiting. Suspected poisoning taken to hospital, state news agency Anadolu reported.

However, after receiving treatment, the parents and child were not hospitalized. They returned to the hotel. A fatal mistake. A few hours later, her condition worsened dramatically: first her children died, then her mother and a few days later her father also died.

Initially, food poisoning cannot be ruled out. But then there were indications of chemical poisoning.
