A new video has appeared on the official account of the British Ministry of Defense laser gunsdesigned entirely in England, it could revolutionize Western defense for two reasons: it was very economical and could hit very small targets with precision, even at long distances.
What is DragonFire
The new British gimmick is called DragonFire and is a laser energy weapon invented, aimed, designed and built in England. With its incredible level of precision, DragonFire can hit a target the size of a £1 coin even from a kilometer away and costs the nation just £10 per shot, a very low figure compared to the cost of traditional missile systems, which exceed hundreds of thousands of pounds per shot.
Tests on drones
The test results that have been released show how potentially deadly this new weapon is: it managed to shoot down a drone at high speed, capable of reaching 650 km/h, twice the maximum speed of a Formula 1 car.
Contract with MBDA
The contract was awarded to MBDA, Europe’s main consortium for missile and defense technology development and 25% controlled by Italy’s Leonardo spa. The contract to supply the new system to the Royal Navy is worth £316 million. Deliveries will begin in 2027 (five years ahead of schedule), when the first DragonFire will be installed on a Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer.

DragonFire appears at a historical moment of great geopolitical tension, especially between Western countries and Russia.
