Rome, 26 November (Adnkronos Salute) – “Perhaps we are a little optimistic when we write that reforms are ‘on the way’. For me, there are basically two parties involved, if we can define it that way: one party is convinced that with the maintenance of the usual system we can progress for a long time and the other party, myself included, is convinced that we have reached the point that we need to rethink this system more thoroughly”. These are the words of Federico Spandonaro, professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, founder and president of the scientific committee Crea Sanità, at the 20th edition of the Risk Management Forum taking place until November 27 in Arezzo.

“I believe that the public nature of these systems, in the end, can always be traced back to the key element of fairness and, therefore, the reduction of inequalities – added Spandonaro – The data we have show that in these 40 years inequalities have not reduced: we may have succeeded in containing most of the impacts of aging, but we have not succeeded in changing the course of geographic and socio-economic inequalities. In these conditions, resources are scarce. and I believe that these systems must ask themselves what is a priority to deliver and what needs to be reorganized, even with private collaboration”.

Pnrr “is a unique and unrepeatable event, which we hope will be an investment that will provide results and returns – hope the experts – But the real problem is growth in the medium-long term. The increase in spending in the healthcare system is expected to be 1.5 points for the next few years. If we look at the growth in the more technological areas, medicines and devices, we are talking about 7-8 points. In the gap we understand that there are difficulties in sustainability”, he concluded.
