“It was sabotage.” Suspicions about Russia

A bomb exploded throughout train Warsaw-Lublin. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk broke the news on X: «Unfortunately, the worst hypothesis has been confirmed. The act of sabotage took place on the Warsaw-Lublin line (near the village of Mika). This route is also very important for the delivery of aid to Ukraine. We will arrest those responsible, whoever they are».

Security services and the prosecutor’s office are working at the scene. On the same route, closer to Lublin, other damage was discovered. “The explosion – wrote Tusk in another post – was an unprecedented act of sabotage directed against the security of the Polish state and its citizens. The investigation is ongoing. As in previous similar cases, we will arrest those responsible, regardless of who sent them.”

Tensions are high at the border

The accident was reported on Sunday morning after a regional train driver noticed a section of track missing, prompting an investigation into the cause of the damage. This route is used, among other things, to facilitate the delivery of aid to Ukraine. Tusk said the explosion was “most likely intended to blow up a train on the Warsaw-Dęblin route,” and added that another similar incident was reported further east “on the same railway line.” This was “an attempt to destabilize and destroy railway infrastructure, which could lead to a railway disaster.” “Unfortunately, there is no doubt that this was an act of sabotage. Fortunately there was no tragedy, but the problem is still very serious,” explained the prime minister.. Meanwhile Warsaw decided to reopen two border crossings with Minsk. According to Polish news agency Pap, the Borowniki crossing is open to cars, buses and trucks, while the Kuznica crossing is only open to cars. Warsaw’s decision arose from the need to meet the economic needs of the border regions and the fact that the current migration crisis has subsided.
