“We firmly oppose the amendment proposed by Senator Michaela Biancofiore who is not from Us Moderates.” Andrea Costa, Noi Moderati Health Manager and Pnrr Mission implementation strategist in the ministry led by Orazio Schillaci, distanced himself from the amendments to the budget law on the civil liability of doctors proposed by Senator Michaela Biancofiore.
Why are you so against it?
“This amendment will take us backwards compared to the Gelli law which, in terms of responsibility, has provided a path that is still valid today. For the future, we must increase the protection of our health workers because we must create conditions so that our doctors and nurses operate in the best conditions.”
What are your suggestions regarding this topic?
“We propose a path foreseen in health professions reform that protects more doctors and nurses who currently have to work in difficult conditions, just imagine the attacks in emergency rooms and on wards.”
What are the priorities of the medical and nursing sectors?
“We believe that there is a need to strengthen the relationship of trust between citizens, patients and doctors. The amendments, then, will increase the use of defensive drugs and increase the tests prescribed even when they are not necessary which will certainly not help us solve the waiting list problem. The real solution is to continue the path started by the government providing new employees and salary increases.”
However, the government has significantly increased funding for the sector. Or not?
“This government, from the point of view of investment in health, has clearly turned around. Pnrr funds are also directed in this direction, strengthening local medicine.”
