Italian legend, the Davis Cup is blue for the third year in a row – Il Tempo

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Italy won the fourth Davis Cup in its history, the third in a row. On the indoor hard court in Bologna, Flavio Cobolli gave the Azzurri their first Salad Bowl on home soil, who defeated Spain in the final with a score of 2-0. After Matteo Berrettini succeeded 6-3 6-4 over Pablo Carreno-Busta in first singles, Cobolli closed the match by beating Jaume Munar 1-6 7-6(5) 7-5. Italy then became the first country to win three years in a row since 1971, after being eliminated from the Challenge Round, which is a rule that states the defending champion only plays in the final the following year.
“This is my dream, we are a very united team. I am proud of all of us and this fantastic crowd is also part of this team. The best day of my life has been repeated for three days,” said Cobolli after the victory against Munar which gave Italy the Davis Cup.
