Jannik Sinner is in the semifinals of the ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner is in the semifinals of the ATP Finals, the tournament played in Turin among the 8 best tennis players of the year: he beat German Alexander Zverev in two sets, with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Sinner always controlled the game but made some more mistakes than usual, especially in the so-called second serve, which is the serve that a player makes after missing the first serve, and which he must make in order not to lose the point. For Zverev, it was the third loss against Sinner in as many weeks, after defeats at the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna and the Masters 1000 in Paris.

The ATP Finals formula includes two groups of four tennis players, each of which the top two groups qualify for the semi-finals. Sinner has won two of the three matches in his group, but is already confident of finishing first. In fact, in the afternoon, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, who was beaten by Sinner in the first match of the group, had beaten American Ben Shelton, who in turn had already lost to Zverev. He will play in the semifinals on Saturday, but he doesn’t know against whom yet, as two matches are scheduled between Thursday and Friday that will determine the ranking of the rest of the group (Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, American Taylor Fritz and Italian Lorenzo Mussetti are still competing for the first two places). The tournament final will be played on Sunday.
