Kashmir, explosives depot explosion: 9 people killed

Nine people were killed and 32 others injured in an accidental explosion at a confiscated explosives cache inside Nowgam police station in Indian-administered Kashmir. The material, which was seized days earlier in Faridabad and sent for forensic examination, was detonated during a manipulation operation last night. The incident occurred shortly after a car blast in Delhi was described by the government as a terrorist act. The regional police chief, Nalin Prabhat, spoke of a “very unfortunate” incident that occurred while officers were dealing with the bomb.
