Telefónica management informed unions on Monday that the new labor regulatory dossier (ERE) will affect more than 5,000 employees of the three main subsidiaries – Telefónica España, Móviles y Soluciones – and Movistar+, representing 37% of the total workforce of 14,457 workers of these four companies. Sources from the Ministry of Labor consider it “indecent” that a “profitable and publicly owned” company would make an adjustment to these characteristics, which with the new data released this Tuesday now amount to 5,459 interested parties. Yolanda Díaz’s department sent a letter to the State Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI) with these arguments. This public company controls 10% of Telefónica shares.
Before this latest announcement, the impact on the three subsidiaries subject to the Related Company Agreement (CEV) was estimated at 5,040 workers, with the following distribution: 3,649 people at Telefónica de España (41.04% of a total of 8,892 employees); 1,124 people at Telefónica Móviles (31.34% of 3,587 employees); and 267 people at Telefónica Soluciones (23.89% of 1,118 workers). Likewise, this Monday the ERE table was also established for Movistar+, the pay television platform, for which Telefónica proposed 279 exits out of a workforce of 860 people, or an impact of 32.45% of the total.
