Landslide hits a house, saving one person, leaving two missing – News

A landslide hit a house in Brazzano di Cormons, in the Gorizia area, at night.

One person was pulled alive from the rubble by firefighters, supported by Civil Protection volunteers, who were searching for two missing people. Medics sent by the Sores Fvg operations center also intervened at the scene with several ambulances, medical vehicles and air ambulance crews. The victim with a broken leg was rushed to Udine Hospital.

River rescue and rescue teams from the Trieste and Pordenone fire commandos were sent to support Udine and Gorizia personnel. Regional Gos (Special Operations Group) units deployed with earthmoving vehicles, dog handlers and Usar (urban search and rescue) teams arrived from Veneto to search for missing people under the rubble. Bad weather hit the area between Palmanova and Gorizia provinces, with the worst damage recorded in Cormons where 152 millimeters of water fell in just six hours. The Judrio River overflowed, causing widespread flooding. The basement of Palmanova hospital is under water: no problems for patients.

Discomfort also occurred on the motorways in Visco, Trivignano and Chiopris Viscone. Around two hundred requests for intervention have been received at the Udine fire brigade since midnight, while many calls also involve the Gorizia command. Due to the surge of bad weather, the Civil Protection has issued a yellow alert.
