Snacks instead of vacancies: Another downtown store revitalized. If you like, you can buy more than just gingerbread there.

There is one less vacancy in downtown Nuremberg: Lebkuchen-Schmidt claims to have opened the world’s largest gingerbread shop on Königstrasse. Since Tuesday he has been based in a central location, between the main train station and Lorenzkirche, in the former “Overbeck” department store. Like many Lebkuchen-Schmidt stores, this is a seasonal branch. Meaning: The shop only opens during the Christmas season and closes again on Christmas Eve.

This branch differs from other shops not only in its size: there is a bakery in the basement where Lebkuchen-Schmidt holds workshops together with the Nuremberg Congress and Tourism Center (CTZ). Groups of 6 to 25 people can learn how to make gingerbread under the guidance of experienced bakers. Courses are offered every Thursday through Saturday through December 20. Adults pay 29 euros, children 14.95 euros. You can order via the CTZ website.

Lebkuchen-Schmidt has been making cakes south of Nuremberg since 1927. The company has representatives in three locations in downtown Nuremberg. This traditional house also operates a stall at the Christmas market.
