They are the future of our society and it is good that they also have awareness of the correct behavior towards women.” The governor then underlined that regarding gender violence, “simplification and exploitation are unacceptable. The involvement of all parties is needed in this problem: communities, families, schools, institutions.” Fontana emphasized the Region’s proactive commitment to preventing the phenomenon of violence against women which, he emphasized, “must not be devoid of a repressive nature. Those who break the law, those who lack respect, should suffer the consequences. We want to eradicate this phenomenon. Violence against women is not only wrong, it is also unacceptable”. This was stated by the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on which occasion the Region and the young generation signed the Charter of Commitment ‘Generation Respect: now it’s our turn’, a document with intentions, values and concrete actions aimed at increasing respect, equality and the fight against male violence against women.
