The American project for Ukraine announced on Thursday, which specifically envisages the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from territory it still controls, resulted in a net gain of about 2,300 km² for Moscow, according to an analysis of data provided by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW). A gain almost equivalent to the surface area of Luxembourg (2,590 km²), without firing a single shot. The 28-point plan also plans to recognize Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014, and the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, in the east of the country, as de facto Russian territory. He also linked large areas currently controlled by Russia in the Kherson region and Zaporizhia. In total, the plan proposed by Washington would then envisage Ukraine abandoning 20% of its territory, and restoring less than 0.5%.
