The resort of Masella (Girona) will inaugurate, once again, the ski season in the Pyrenees with an opening of the slopes announced for this Wednesday 26 November, which will make the resort the first in Spain to start the campaign. Masella managers have confirmed that skiers will have eleven kilometers of slopes and snow thicknesses between 30 and 35 centimeters at their disposal.
The cold and rain of recent days have facilitated this opening, based above all on the snow produced with cannons thanks to the investment made last summer. The renovation of the machine room in the Pla de Masella area and the replacement of the cannons with new technologies make it possible to increase snow production by 30% compared to the previous year, with energy savings of up to 25%.
The station is now working to inaugurate the new slopes starting next Friday with the expected arrival of the weekend skiers and to open in a more progressive way to have maximum operational control on the Constitución bridge.
Other tracks that will start the season this week in the Pyrenees are those in Les Angles, France, which will be inaugurated next Friday, November 28th. This resort, located in the French department of Pyrenees Orientales, has a very important presence of skiers from Catalonia, so their preparation is also focused on the Constitution Bridge.
