Cologne district mayor Sabine Stiller dies

CDU Cologne mourns the death of Sabine Stiller. She was the first woman to lead the affairs of Porz city hall.
Former Porz district mayor Sabine Stiller has died. CDU Cologne announced this in a press release on Monday (24 November). “We are deeply shocked to learn of the sudden death of Porz Mayor Sabine Stiller.” Stiller died on November 17, and the party did not provide any information about the circumstances of his death.
Sabine Stiller died in office, her successor Lutz Tempel (SPD) was only elected two days later at a district council constituent meeting. Sabine Stiller always put the well-being of local people first, the CDU continued: “Hard work, perseverance, politeness and firmness in friendship were her trademarks and earned her respect across party lines.”
CDU district chairman Serap Güler expressed his condolences to his relatives in a personal letter: “The death of a person always leaves a painful gap that can only be eased by time and memories of shared moments.” Güler wished his relatives strength and confidence.
Sabine Stiller was born in Munich in 1958 and qualified as a nurse in 1982. From 1991 onwards, as director of nursing and part of the hospital management in Porz, she managed key parts of the site and was responsible for almost 400 employees. In 2011 he entered politics and became part of the Porz district council.
In 2020, she was the first woman elected mayor of Porz. During his term of office, Porzer Mitte was extensively renovated and had to become a meeting place for citizens again.
His successor, Lutz Tempel, expressed his condolences via a post on Instagram. On Monday he wrote in a story about the death announcement: “Thank you very much, Sabine, for five years of open and fair cooperation. I will try to do well. Rest in peace.”
