Mediterranean communities are on alert this Wednesday due to strong wind gusts and sea storms, with a greater incidence in the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, where there is an orange alert (significant risk) due to strong waves with maximum waves between 10 and 12 metres, according to the Meteorological Agency (Aemet) on its website.

In the Balearic archipelago, the islands of Minorca and Mallorca have an orange warning for northerly winds of 50 to 75 kilometers per hour (force 7 to 8) and waves of four meters increasing to six meters with maximum waves of 10 to 12 meters. A yellow alert (risk) is in force in Ibiza and Formentera for winds from the north and north-west of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and three-metre waves. With the orange alert there is a significant weather risk, with some degree of danger for usual activities, and with the yellow alert there is no weather risk for the general population, although it exists for some specific activities.
