The eyes of the world are focused on the sacred grove of ancient Olympia where the Olympic Games took place almost three thousand years ago: today is actually the day of the lighting ceremony. In nine days there will be more than 450 torchbearers who will travel two thousand km, touching seven regions of the country in a journey reminiscent of the symbiosis between Greece and the Olympic spirit that will end on December 4 in Athens.

From that day, the Olympic torch will move to Italy with a journey that will start from Rome on December 6 on a journey lasting 63 days and ending on the evening of February 6 with the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics at San Siro. From Lazio to Sicily, from Calabria to Emilia-Romagna to the cities and mountain resorts of Northern Italy, the Olympic flame will spread far and wide at the Bel Paese.
