The Judicial Court of Nanterre, which ruled on Tuesday, was seized on by UFC-Que Choisir in the spring, which deemed the marketing of Perrier water as “natural mineral” water misleading.
After a series of two years, the decision was eagerly awaited. And Nestlé should be happy. The Nanterre legal court has in fact rejected UFC-Que Choisir’s request to suspend the marketing of Perrier water after revelations of the illegal processing of the bubble brand’s mineral water to remove pollutants.
The association, which filed a request for interim relief in the spring with the court, argued that the microfiltration the group uses on its water means that it can no longer claim the name “natural mineral water,” and asked for a “marketing ban” and “a cessation of deception.”
“All our water” is consumable
Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages, which produces Perrier, Vittel, Contrex and Hépar waters in France, has always “firmly” opposed UFC-Que Choisir’s claims, “especially allegations that call into question the food safety of the products”.
“All our water” can be consumed “completely safely”, the group declared two years in the midst of a scandal after they admitted, in early 2024 under the influence of several press investigations, that they had used prohibited treatments (coal, UV) for their water in the past.
