Cologne – This happened again. A day after two Romanians caught a Wizz Air plane at Cologne/Bonn airport, three Britons attempted the same thing on Saturday. They also enter the runway via an emergency switch.
The incident occurred at around 18.30 North Rhine-Westphalia. The three British citizens missed boarding the plane and entered the runway through the emergency exit. There they tried to catch their Ryanair plane which was supposed to fly to the UK.

Airport workers stop them
In response to BILD’s questions, airport spokesman Alexander Weise said: “We can confirm that on Saturday three people illegally gained access to the aircraft’s parking position by pressing the emergency exit button to the parking position in the terminal. The passengers had previously completed security checks and were screened.”
Weise continued: “The individuals were picked up by airport employees and turned over to federal police. Internal information channels and processes were functional. Flight security and flight operations were never impacted.”
The airport refused to report this problem
As BILD learned based on a request from the Federal Police, no violation report was filed in this case. Spokesman Mathias Kampfer: “It is Airport decided not to file criminal charges.” However, the authorities were shocked by the accumulation of incidents; this has never happened in the past.

The two Romanians (28, 47) were not so lucky the day before. They are still receiving the report. After the Wizz Air Airbus (flight number 3262) bound for Bucharest (Romania) left its parking position at Gate B 70 at around 21:25, they headed for the runway via the emergency exit.
They did board the plane, but in vain: airport employees told them to get off the runway
They ran across the security area to the plane and, waving their arms, tried to signal to the pilot that he should take them. Here too, an airport employee intervened and the Romanians were his people Federal Police deliver.
According to the union, there are currently longer queues at security checks at Cologne/Bonn Airport due to renovation work. It is still unclear whether they are responsible for passengers who miss their flights.
