Just 12 days before Professor Martiño Ramos Soto was firmly condemned in Ourense for having repeatedly raped a student, a certain Martín Soto had activated an Instagram account in Cuba. In the profile photo, which has remained open all this time, the rapist who fled from Spanish justice is perfectly recognisable. According to his publications, in the four months that police searched for him on this side of the Atlantic, Ramos Soto worked as a photographer on the Caribbean island, moving between art galleries and modeling shows and using his Spanish-language first name along with his middle surname. The clues that place him in Havana are being investigated by the police, as sources from the government delegation in Galicia confirmed to this newspaper.
On Sunday, the reappearance in Havana of Ramos Soto was announced, firmly sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexually molesting a minor who had taught in Ourense for two years. The Spaniards and coincides with the information disseminated on this social network. In the profile allegedly managed by the fugitive pedophile, his photo is used and a text in Galician is included. On November 14, this Martín Soto was at an exhibition in the Habana Espacios Creativos cultural center and another participant posted images of him in which he was tagged.
Martiño Ramos Soto has been wanted and captured since July 25, the Superior Court of Xustiza of Galicia imposed 13 years in prison on him. Soto had been the victim’s music teacher since he was three years old. He contacted her when she was in sixth grade via Instagram, pretending to be a minor and then physically and sexually assaulted her.
When, after being firmly convicted, the police tried to locate him to send him to prison, they discovered that his whereabouts were unknown. Despite the seriousness of the charges, since he had already been convicted by the provincial court of Ourense, no precautionary measures were decreed and the rapist enjoyed conditional release. In the four years that have passed since the girl’s complaint in 2021, the Prosecutor’s Office has not asked for her to be placed in provisional prison.
The first of the 51 posts on the Instagram profile with the photo in which Martiño Ramos is recognized is from July 13, 12 days before the TSXG ruling. The last one was five days ago. Between one appointment and another there is a succession of art galleries, fashion shows and photo sessions with models. In the last few hours, several internet users have begun to include warning comments about the serious judicial sentence weighing on the man in the photo of that profile created in Cuba in Spain.
