Drones launched by Russia last night hit and damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the Odessa region, on the Black Sea, also destroying a solar power plant. This was reported by the Governor of Odessa Oblast, Oleh Kiper.
Emergency teams have been activated and electricity supply to residents has been restored in backup mode, Kiper reported, quoted by Ukrainska Pravda, adding that shelters for residents, called “invincibility centers” in Ukraine, have been opened.
The Kiev Air Force reported that during the night Russian forces attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M ballistic missiles and with at least 176 drones, about 100 of which were of the Shahed type, 139 of which were shot down by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses. However, at least 37 other warheads reached their targets, hitting 14 locations.
In recent days, drone units from Russia’s Western Battlegroup also used stray munitions to destroy dozens of vehicles attempting to deliver personnel, ammunition and food to Kupyansk, the Russian Defense Ministry said. “Soldiers of the drone unit in Battlegroup West thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian militants to deliver personnel, ammunition and equipment to troops blocked in the direction of Kupyansk,” the ministry said. “FPV drone operators carried out a precision strike on a car of Ukrainian militants trying to enter the city of Kupyansk,” he added.
On the other hand, Ukrainian drones attacked residential buildings in several neighborhoods in the Russian city of Volgograd, in the Volga region, and three people were injured, according to the governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, quoted by Tass. “Tonight, the Defense Ministry’s air defense units repelled a massive drone attack on the territory of the Volgograd region,” the regional government quoted the governor as saying on its official Telegram channel. Unfortunately, three people were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment, none of the injuries are life-threatening. In addition, a fire broke out in an apartment building after the attack, Bocharov said.
