Nigeria, 315 people kidnapped from Catholic school

315 people were kidnapped yesterday from St. Mary in Agwara area, Nigeria: 303 students and 12 teachers, according to the number of victims provided by the national Christian association. No group claimed responsibility for the act, in a context where kidnappings for ransom are common. Niger’s government criticized the school for reopening despite intelligence warnings of increased threats. The kidnapping occurred at dawn; military and security forces have been deployed. A similar incident occurred a few days ago, with the kidnapping of 25 students from the boarding school of a government girls secondary school in Maga, in Kebbi State.
