Nokia wants to cut 427 jobs in France

For Nokia, cutting its workforce in France has now become a habit. According to our information, the Finnish telecommunications equipment giant, which sells relay antennas to mobile phone operators, plans to cut jobs in France for the umpteenth time. Management will detail these cost reduction plans to the union on Wednesday, November 19 morning, in an extraordinary meeting of the central social and economic committee, detailing a letter from the human resources department to staff representatives dated November 12, in which World have access.

Nokia France wants, according to our information, to eliminate 427 positions using collective contract termination procedures. According to union sources, this represents almost a fifth of Nokia’s workforce in France, which has around 2,300 employees at its Massy (Essonne) and Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor) sites.

For the latter, this is a new blow: it will be the seventh time Nokia has cut its forces since buying Alcatel-Lucent in 2016. “We will exceed the symbolic barrier of 2,000 employees in France”deplores the same union sources. This one “rejoice” despite everything that this is a collective contract termination and not a sharp cut: this procedure, in fact, must be “negotiated with trade union organizations”and is based on volunteerism. “It is up to the employee to choose” if they want to leave, the source confirmed. However, he criticized the scale of the plans: “To what extent does Nokia want to reduce France? »he asked himself. When contacted, Nokia did not respond to our request.
