Nvidia, the giant stock of artificial intelligence chips, will land in the north of the country. The governor of the State of Nuevo León, Samuel García, specified that this millionaire investment will be carried out over the next 10 years and will have all the facilities for disembarkation. “Nvidia already has land and everything ready to make its investment. With this a new era begins, now we want the industry of the future to arrive: chips, semiconductors, robotics and, of course, artificial intelligence,” García announced Wednesday at a company event in Mexico City. To facilitate the landing of Nvidia and other companies in the sector, the local government created an undersecretary of foreign investment, innovation and artificial intelligence with a local budget of 500 million pesos.
In the race to develop artificial intelligence, Nuevo León intends to take the lead. In announcing this million-dollar investment, the local governor boasted of Nuevo León’s industrial and logistical strength with a network of 260 industrial parks and an ecosystem of 4,500 companies. Furthermore, he announced the arrival in his territory of Equinix, one of the largest interconnection and data center companies in the world: “In a month we will go to Washington and announce that Equinix will also install its data center in Nuevo León. The State is moving towards the future with what I will call the new paradigm of green industry, which bets on artificial intelligence, automation and green energy”, he indicated.

Marcio Aguilar, director of the company, said that after 20 months of work, Nvidia aspires to position itself in technology projects in Mexico. “What we will see today is the strength of the country’s ecosystem. We will do a lot of training, it is an honor on behalf of Nvidia to bring all the competition we have and put Mexico as a leading country,” he said at the inauguration of the AI forum in the country’s capital.
In this same space, Rosaura Ruiz Gutiérrez, Secretary of Sciences, Humanities, Technology and Innovation of the federal government, commented that the revolution unleashed by artificial intelligence is already underway and Mexico cannot be left behind. The head of the country’s science department promised to open an investment window to develop these technological projects, as well as launch a 3- to 6-month residency program for researchers to work on computing nodes.
Last October Nvidia broke a historic record on the stock market, exceeding five trillion dollars in market capitalization, a figure never reached by any company. The company’s rise in markets is accompanied by the launch of new models and open data to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence in language, biology and robotics, and Mexico will be a key player in the development of these initiatives in Latin America.
